Jagex has put a date on it: RuneScape: Dragonwilds leaves early access on 15 September 2026, landing as a full 1.0 release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.

If you missed it, Dragonwilds is Jagex’s co-op survival crafting game set in Ashenfall, a sealed-off corner of the RuneScape world. It launched into early access in April 2025 and has been patched steadily since, and the pace has picked up on the road to release. The recent updates have been substantial: the Eye on Ashenfall patches reworked large parts of the game, and Jagex has previewed a combat overhaul covering stamina, parrying, dodging and animation cancels for 1.0.

For RSPS players there’s an obvious question here. This is the first big new game in the RuneScape universe in years, it runs familiar skills like Woodcutting, Fishing and Runecrafting, and it arrives with none of the grind debates that keep half of us on private servers in the first place. Whether it pulls people away from the scene for a month or just gives everyone something to play between wipes, September is going to be interesting.

If you’re planning to jump in at launch, Dragonwilds Codex runs a live launch tracker with the countdown and what Jagex has confirmed so far, and its map of the current world gives a decent sense of how much game is already there.

We’ll keep an eye on what 1.0 actually ships and what it means for server populations once the dust settles.
